This spring’s big Assassin’s Creed game features not one but two main characters: twin siblings Jacob and Evie Frye. Obviously one is better than the other. The question is, which?
If you’ve been playing Syndicate, chances are you’ve gravitated more toward one of the Frye twins while doing sidequests and exploring. Which one?
Time for a poll:

Actually both.
While they didn’t differ all that much, I played Jacob when I thought the mission might require a full on approach and Evie when I wanted to go full stealth.
I also tried to change it up through the side quests so it felt like both played a part in the events, that way when you did the final “thank you” parts having both present made a little more sense.
I liked their characters. After Kenway I found Arno to be bit cliche so it was nice to have enjoyable Assassins with personalities again.
Evie all the way. Jacob’s cockiness was just a little too much.
I really didn’t feel like the game did the multiple character thing well to be honest. I’d be happy if it just centred around Evie.
Evie. AC characters have always been very brash and cocky, was refreshing to play someone who you knew was looking beyond the next opportunity to throw out a smirky one-liner.
It’s great they made a femae character in the main AC series, however the focus is till a little too much on Jacob.
eg he is in the middle of the cover and Evie is sightly behind. I was chatting to the official Ubisoft cosplayers at PAX Aus and I mentioned they are meant to be the same height, and the girl thought Evie was meant to be shorter looking at the picture, but that’s only because she is in the back.
Also the fact that the end of each sequence seems to always be a Jacob mission. I felt like those should have been un restricted.
She’s also the smarter of the two.
I’m glad that it doesn’t matter too much who you play in general though. I go around picking fights with Evie and don’t have any trouble.
Next time though, it’d be nice to truly make a game where you can pick either for all missions.
